I'm trying to make a concerted effort to keep on top of my blog, and whilst I do so, to keep everyone in the loop of what's new in the world of Gemma Vendetta.
NEXT weekend, its the epic One Fine Day Wedding Fair, if you want to be in the running to win a double pass to the fair, have a peek at my Instagram, there's a re-gram & tag comp running, and I need to give away a double pass to one of you lucky peeps!
In other news I'm very excited to announce that I am launching my own makeup range.
As you may know, in 2007 I was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease, Multiple Sclerosis (meaning my immune system HATES my central nervous system, see's it as a threat, and randomly attacks it without my permission!). Ever since my diagnosis I've been on a personal mission to rid chemicals from my lifestyle. From household cleaning products, to washing powder, to toothpaste, facial cleansers, moisturisers, body wash, and, of course makeup. I began immersing myself in natural, organic, Australian/NZ products that were sans chemicals.
In my daily regimen I use Antipodes, Nude By Nature, The Jojoba Company, and Organic Care. But I just wasn't satisfied. I wanted control. I wanted to use my skills and experience of skin care consultancy (I used to work for Kosmea!), Hairdressing (one of the most toxic working environments today) and Makeup artistry to educate my clients, and to break down the taboo of using products that are natural, organic, chemical-free, as being inferior.
The fact is, that you can clean your body, you can wear high-quality makeup, you can smell great, maintain your locks, and look after your skin, without nasty chemicals, that penetrate straight into your blood stream.
Look around you. How many people do you know with an invisible disease? How many people are being diagnosed with Cancer, every day.
I know that my body reached saturation point in 2007. My immune system is haywire, and I don't believe in coincidences. We are ultimately organic creatures ourselves, so why not treat our bodies that way?
Even if you started with one thing, your foundation for example, you're on the right path to fighting the adverse effects of chemical additives in beauty/cosmetic products.
I think we need to stop being so complacent about it, and take control. So I did.
Starting with lipsticks, and then a liquid liner pen, these products are:
Pregnancy, auto-immune disease safe
These products will be available for pre-order SOON.
